translation memory
To assist with the provision of translation services to customers, CAT or Computer Aided Translation are in frequent use and a common feature of a quality plan.
CAT or translation memory software is something very different from machine translation and shouldn’t be confused with the free products you see on the Internet.
Making translation tools work
Translation memory is a tool which a human translator uses (such as SDL Trados or WordFast) to create a target text, such as a dictionary, glossary or term base.
The human translator will align the source (or original) with the target text. This alignment process helps to create various translation memories.
These memories can be grouped by product, brand and client or held universally. It is also worth speaking with your representative on how best you would like your translation memory managed or seek their advice on best practice.
The type of translation memory we use
The translation memory software used by us to help with translation management is SDL Trados and WordFast. Pre and post editing of the translation memories will be project managed by an Account Executive in conjunction with a professional translator.
